Changed all the fluids in the Land Rover. It came from Connecticut and is unsettlingly rusty underneath.

Whichever German or British engineer thought it’d be a good idea to create a transmission that can only be filled while the engine is running and then surround the full hole with hot exhaust pipes - yeah, they can go to hell.

Otherwise went well. Except for all the rusty bolts that broke my cheap tools and required the purchase of impact sockets.

Diffs were good, somebody was taking care of them. Looked like less than 30k miles on it.

Tranny and transfer case we re super bad. Both definitely original fluid at 97k miles. I only did a drain and fill on the trans because I’m a worry wort like that.

Engine oil was whatever. Supposedly the dealership I bought it from had changed it (so about 3k miles ago)...but they very much overlooked some major issues (bad BJs and bushings) so I don’t trust them to have put the right stuff in or changed the filter.

Brakes are next, before winter.

Remember-if you have less than 3 lights on at any time on the dash, you have burnt out bulbs.
